INSTITUTE BRINGS CCS TO NEW YORK CLIMATE WEEK

The Institute hosted its first ever flagship event at Climate Week 2019 during the United Nations’ Climate Action Summit. The event focused on the Net-Zero Industry Transition and convened leaders from government, industry and the nonprofit sector to discuss carbon capture and storage’s role in decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors. A summary of the event was featured in S&P Global.

IMPORTANT MILESTONE ACHIEVED FOR SHIPMENT OF CO2 ACROSS INTERNATIONAL BOUNDARIES 

The parties of the London Protocol agreed to allow provisional application of the 2009 amendment of Article 6 to the London Protocol allowing for cross-border transport and export of CO2 for geological storage in sub-seabed geological formations at the London Convention meeting held between 7-11 October in London.
     

INSTITUTE ORGANISES EVENT AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

The Institute co-hosted a discussion with Members of the European Parliament and policymakers on how CCS can support industrial decarbonisation efforts in Europe. This showcased the Port  of Rotterdam COâ‚‚ Transport  Hub & Offshore Storage project. This event was co-hosted by MEP Chris Davies and Jude Kirton-Darling with the participation of labour unions, industry and civil society.

A LOOK AT CCS IN WASTE-TO ENERGY

Institute’s Senior Consultant David T. Kearns  offers an overview of the waste-to-energy sector and discusses how the application of CCS has the potential to make waste a zero, or even negative, emissions energy source.

HARNESSING CCS TO DECARBONIZE HYDROGEN

The Institute recently hosted a discussion on the State of the Hydrogen Economy, welcoming attendees from ENGOs, think tanks and industry. Key presentations were made by representatives from Equinor, the US Department of Energy, Rocky Mountain Institute, the Global CCS Institute and the Clean Air Task Force.
