INSTITUTE OPENS THE MARKET AT THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE | |
To mark the Institute's 10th Anniversary and its conference on CCS financing, the Institute hosted a Market Open Ceremony at the London Stock Exchange with Members and guests. This unique event was an opportunity to highlight the important role of the financial sector in accelerating the deployment of the CCS technologies and projects.

INSTITUTE EVENT GATHERS FINANCIAL SECTOR TO TALK CCS FINANCING

At the event, speakers from the UK and US Government, European Commission, HSBC Centre of Sustainable Finance, London Stock Exchange, energy companies and technology innovators explored how to mobilise finance for CCS projects and technologies. This event highlighted the important role of the broad finance sector in unlocking and facilitating capital flows towards CCS, through providing sustainable finance and investments.

Ten new large-scale CCS facilities were added to the Institute's global database. Eight of the ten new facilities are located in the US, where policy, government support and the 45Q tax credit have resulted in increased CCS project activity. With this announcement, there are now 51 CCS facilities globally – 19 in operation, four under construction, and 28 in various stages of development. | | | |

JAPAN'S TOMAKOMAI PROJECT REACHES NEW MILESTONE | |
The project reached its target of 300,000 tonnes of CO2 injected and stored safely underground in the harbor of the Tomakomai Port area. The facility captures CO2 from gas emitted by a hydrogen production unit at a refinery. | | | |

The Institute hosted an event on carbon capture liability in Washington DC. This was an opportunity for Members and other key stakeholders to hear from our Senior Consultant - Legal & Regulatory, Ian Havercroft, on the key analysis and findings of the Institute's latest Thought Leadership Report that makes the case for a more commercially-minded view of liability.
