Global CCS Institute Expands, Launches New Office in United Arab Emirates

As carbon capture and storage momentum grows globally, the Global CCS Institute has officially launched a new office location in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states show great promise for CCS development. A physical presence in the region means the Institute will be able to support the region’s CCS community and engage with local projects.

In a newly released report, the Institute assesses key factors that contribute to current CCS costs and evaluates the variables that may be able to drive those costs down. The report not only looks at technological innovations, but also considers policy impacts and economies of scale.

 CCS Momentum on the Rise as Supportive 45Q Tax Credit Sees Gains

With the United States Internal Revenue Service having finalised  rules and regulations tied to the 45Q tax credit, financing CCS projects has become clearer on the regulatory front and more accessible to US-based investors. In the Institute’s latest insight, Senior Communications and Advocacy Adviser, Matt Bright, illustrates the support and stability that 45Q provides those looking to enter the CCS market. The insight unpacks eligibility details of the tax credits and looks at how it can be coupled with other financial incentives.

Saudi Energy Meet kicked off virtually this week and the Global CCS Institute was excited to take part. The summit brought together stakeholders to share insights and expertise on energy policy and the industrial sector. The Institute’s General Manager of Client Engagement, Jeff Erikson, spoke at the event to discuss CCS progress in the Gulf Cooperation Council States (GCC) and around the globe.
